COVID-19 Return to Play "Best Practices"
State Office – May 5, 2020

Any person who is experiencing symptoms of sickness will be prohibited from attending the event/venue of play. Please use common sense!

Bleacher and behind the backstop seating WILL NOT be available at any venue (see last page diagram).

Spectators need to plan ahead and bring their own seating and maintain “social distancing” of 6 feet between families up and down the fence line from the dugout to the foul pole. If using a tent, please restrict the tent to family members only and space such tents a minimum of 6 feet apart (see last page diagram).

All tournaments shall use a “Team Gate Fee” to eliminate the person-to-person transactions at the gate. This is safer for all parties involved.

If possible, a “one-way” entry and exit gate shall be used.

After each game, in lieu of handshakes, each team shall line up on their respective baseline and tip their cap to the opposing team minimizing player contact.

Players should plan ahead and bring their own personal cooler instead of using a team cooler.

The Managers meeting at home plate shall be limited to 2 Team Managers (one from each team) and 2 Umpires. No Assistant Coaches or Players at the plate meeting.

Post-game Scorecard Signing shall be done behind 2nd base with two Umpires and 2 Team Managers ONLY, in order to reduce person-to-person contact.

Teams shall spread players out by expanding the dugout area (behind the cage) when room permits and only if player safety will not be compromised (see last page diagram).

Dugout personnel shall consist of essential team personnel ONLY. No bat boys/girls, no scorekeepers, etc. Just Players and Coaches.

Parents should supply their players with antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizer for disinfecting shared playing equipment and cleaning hands between innings.  Parents will be allowed access to assist in the disinfecting process.

Players may wear any Personal Protection Equipment deemed necessary by their parents as long as such items do not compromise the safety of any and all participants in the game.

Upon arriving at a dugout prior to a game, teams are to wipe down (clean) hard surfaces such as benches, bat racks, etc.  Parents will be allowed access to assist in the disinfecting process.

Teams are require to thoroughly clean their dugout of all trash and other items after each game, and wipe down (clean) hard surfaces such as benches, bat racks, etc.  Parents will be allowed access to assist in the disinfecting process.

NOTE: The previous TWO procedures (14 & 15) will comply with the CDC’s recommendation of a “TWO-STEP” process for cleaning and disinfecting.

Sunflower seeds and other items that require spitting shall be prohibited.

We understand this is a serious illness to some. With this said, we request those with a chronic disease or those who are immune-compromised, please stay home and not attend the events until a time when your personal physician tells you you’re safe.

Finally, anyone who doesn’t feel safe has the right not to attend.

(NS) No Seating Allowed
(OK) Six Foot Social Distancing Seating Area
